Our condition grades
At Le Comptoir Vintage, every piece is unique and carries its own history. To let you buy with confidence, we use a clear classification of the condition of our items. We assign this grade during the appraisal, after a full inspection of the piece: exterior, interior, corners, handles and hardware. The grade is shown on every product page, and the photos always show the actual item you will receive, including any marks.

🌟 What does grade N (New / Never worn) mean?
The item is in flawless condition and has never been used. It may still carry its tags or come with its original packaging. On the vintage market, these pieces are rare: when we find one in Japan, it usually sells very quickly.
🥇 What does grade A (Excellent condition) mean?
The piece has been used very little and shows no notable marks. The materials are intact, the corners and handles like new, the interior and exterior very clean. This is the grade we recommend if you are looking for a piece close to new, at a fraction of its boutique price.
🥈 What does grade B (Very good condition) mean?
The piece shows light, discreet signs of use: small scratches, minor wear on the corners or handles. The interior is clean. To the eye, most of these details go unnoticed in daily use. It is the best balance between condition and price, and the most common grade in our selection.
🥉 What does grade C (Good condition) mean?
The piece shows visible signs of use: rubbing, small stains or a more pronounced patina. It remains fully functional and attractive. On natural leathers such as Louis Vuitton Vachetta, this patina is part of the life of the piece and a sign of its authenticity.
⚠️ What does grade D (Fair condition) mean?
The piece shows marked signs of wear: discoloration, pronounced wear, visible stains or a damaged interior. It is authentic and usable, at a very accessible price. We intend it for lovers of well-worn vintage, or for those who wish to restore an iconic piece.
How do we assign our grades?
Every item passes through our hands before going online. We inspect the material, the stitching, the hardware, the interior and the authentication codes, then we photograph the piece from every angle, flaws included. What you see on the product page is exactly what you receive. Our appraisal method is detailed in our authentication guides, and the Entrupy certificate is free for purchases of €1,000 or more.
